According to the development team, players will almost never encounter a “you can’t go there” warning on the map. The team says, “Go wherever you want. Be whatever kind of hero you want to be.”
For the first time in the Fable series, we’ll be able to visually customize our character. In the trailers released so far, we always saw the same girl, and her appearance was even the target of some pointless criticism. However, they revealed the surprise right from the start of this presentation: we won’t merely choose between a male or female character, as we’ll also have broader options. Of course, you shouldn’t expect a character creation screen on the same scale as in some games, where you can adjust even the tiniest details. The details we’ll be able to change were revealed as the character’s head, clothing, hair, skin tone, tattoos, and scars. If there are additional customizable elements, we’ll see them when the game is released.
Playground Games, Fable Of course, we’ll also be able to make changes to our hero’s playstyle. A flexible system has been introduced, allowing us to switch freely between melee combat, weapons, and magical powers. In other words, we won’t be forced into the molds of a “pure fighter” or “full-fledged wizard.”
Playground Games, Fable Playground Games particularly emphasizes that Fable won’t be an RPG where you simply rush from one quest to the next. Alongside the main story and combat, activities that perfectly reflect the spirit of the series, such as side jobs, romantic relationship choices, owning a home, and talking to NPCs, will also be an important part of the game.
Playground Games, Fable
Some of the things we do will permanently change the game world. For example, the giant storyline we saw in the previous trailer is one of them. Depending on whether the giant, played by Richard Ayoade, whom we know from his role as Moss in "IT Crowd", dies or survives, it will have a different impact on the world. If he dies, his body will remain there until the end of the game, the value of the surrounding houses will decrease, and so on. Playground has adopted a very interesting approach.
We still have a long wait until the fall of 2026, but it seems that returning to Albion will be more than worth it.
