Ubisoft Makes Major Changes: New Version of "Prince of Persia" and Five Other Games Canceled

Ubisoft is canceling six games it had been working on.

The most notable among them is the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which has been facing difficulties for a long time. The company also delayed the release of seven other upcoming games.

According to Video Games Chronicle, Ubisoft met with journalists and announced major changes to the company’s operations and game plans. The company plans to implement this in three main ways: a new business model, a completely revised game plan for the next three years, and appropriately adjusting the company’s size (number of employees).

The official statement says:

The reason behind Ubisoft’s decision to “restart” is the changing market. The AAA market is now more selective, and competition in shooter games is extremely strong. At the same time, rising costs make it difficult to create new IPs. Nevertheless, if handled correctly, big-budget games now have the potential to generate more revenue than ever before...
