This long-awaited news was presented to viewers with a short promotional video at the "Jump Press" event.
Dark Atmosphere and an Ambitious Creative Team
The series' protagonist, Chihiro Rokuhira, takes center stage in the first promotional video. The brief footage successfully conveys the anime's intense atmosphere and sharply action-focused storyline.
The "Kagurabachi" anime is being produced by Cypic Studios. The studio is previously known for successful projects such as “Umamusume: Pretty Derby” and “The Summer Hikaru Died”.
The project is directed by Tetsuya Takeuchi, who specializes in action scenes. His portfolio includes major works such as Naruto, Lycoris Recoil, Sword Art Online, and Heavenly Delusion. For a manga centered particularly on sword fights and magic-based battles, this is considered a perfect choice.
During the livestream, Takeuchi expressed his excitement about the project with these words:
"When you hear Kagurabachi, you think of katanas! And more katanas! As well as charismatic characters and deep drama... I will work hard to bring all these elements to the screen. I aim to create a work that both devoted manga readers and viewers discovering the series for the first time will enjoy!"
The anime's character designs have been entrusted to Keigo Sasaki, whom we know from projects such as Erased, Blue Exorcist, and The Seven Deadly Sins.
Alongside this announcement, a special world tour for "Kagurabachi" was also revealed. As part of the events taking place this summer, selected attendees at global anime festivals will be shown the first 20 minutes of the first episode. The tour will conclude in Japan, where the uncut version of the first episode will have its world premiere.
Manga creator Takeru Hokazono shared a special illustration with fans to commemorate this landmark event.

The 11th volume of the ongoing manga will go on sale in Japan on May 1 (2026). The platform on which the anime will be released and its total episode count remain a mystery for now.
