The story begins with a young chef setting out for a ruined city whose inhabitants have lost their sense of taste. Here, our hero, rescued by a character named Kasumi, begins cooking again. The dishes he prepares do not restore people's sense of taste, but they revive long-forgotten, cherished memories within them. This young chef's culinary journey against dark forces seeking to erase all human desires and emotions from the face of the Earth becomes the last hope of saving both worlds.
"WASTED CHEF" is in highly capable hands when it comes to its visuals and musical composition. Character design has been entrusted to Shingo Adachi, the visual architect behind hits such as "Sword Art Online" and "Lycoris Recoil". The music was composed by Kenta Matsukuma, while animation production is being handled by CLAP studio.
According to "Variety", the film is planned to run for 119 minutes and is expected to be completed in 2027. The creators have taken an interesting step to keep fans from getting bored during the long wait. Alongside the film, an official manga adaptation by Aero05 has been announced, and it began publication in "Young Ace" magazine on June 4, 2026. The exact theatrical premiere date for this unusual project will be officially announced in the coming months.
