South Korean game developer "Shift Up" has acquired "Unbound," a new studio founded by industry veteran Shinji Mikami.

According to "Shift Up," the acquisition will significantly strengthen the company's capabilities in both the global PC and console markets through "Unbound's" future games.

In the official announcement video, Shinji Mikami noted that "Unbound" is currently working on "a fairly large game," with its primary goal being to create a true "masterpiece."

The renowned game designer expressed his thoughts on the new collaboration as follows:

"I can now see my vision and ideals more clearly. As a creator, I cannot recall another situation where our ideas intersected so perfectly. I want to continue working with them as my career progresses. For the first time in a long while, I will be right at the center of the process of working on a fairly large game, and I am looking forward to it. To all the gamers waiting for this game, I say: I hope you can be a little more patient for the release date."

Under the terms of the agreement, "Shift Up" will publish "Unbound's" new games in the future and provide the studio with the necessary support to develop its global service capabilities.

"Shift Up" CEO Hyung-Tae Kim also expressed his satisfaction with the collaboration:

"I find it highly meaningful to join forces with 'Unbound,' which includes a world-class development team led by Shinji Mikami. This acquisition will be an excellent opportunity to provide players around the world with the best gaming experience and further strengthen 'Shift Up's' competitiveness on a global scale."

Mikami added that he is very pleased to partner with both Hyung-Tae Kim and all the employees: "I feel a strong connection with Kim, who is also an active creator. I believe this is the ideal partnership, allowing us to focus entirely on creativity. By joining forces as one, both companies will do everything in our power to create entertaining games that live up to the expectations of those following us."
